Why Take Your Course With Us?

You know exactly who your instructor is

All courses are taught by Asaf Bandel only – not a rotating staff, not a trainee instructor. Asaf is your instructor from start to finish.

Experience and an instructor trainer

Asaf has been teaching freediving since 2018 and trains instructors as an Apnea International Instructor-Trainer – experience with hundreds of divers.

Personal attention, not a mass course

Small groups, with full attention for each person. Here you’re not a number – you’re a person and a diver who gets personal, dedicated attention.

Getting started before the course

Before day one, a Zoom lesson on equalization is held with guidance for home practice – so you arrive prepared and make the most of every minute in the water.

Focused on diving – nothing else

No unnecessary extras. The whole course is aimed at one goal: making you a better, calmer, safer freediver.

Static and dynamic breath-hold training as part of the course

Breath-holding is the foundation of good freediving. At Tsalul, all courses include breath-hold practice in a safe, controlled water environment, so you can achieve a longer, deeper dive.

Personal video analysis

Asaf films you underwater and reviews the footage with you – analyzing together, refining your technique, and saving effort and oxygen.

Keep improving after the course too

After the course you’ll get access to a digital course for improving your breath-hold – exercises and a training plan to keep progressing.

A calm atmosphere – and it works

Many graduates say the calm Asaf brings is what helped them dive better. In freediving, calm is the foundation of a good dive.

Accommodating a religious clientele

Courses run on weekdays only, in a modest atmosphere. Separate courses for men and women are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a freediving course take?
It depends on the course. The Introduction course is one day, and the Level 1 and Level 2 courses each run for three days (a shortened two-day Level 1 option is also available). The Level 3 course runs 5 days, and the Instructor course runs 7 days. The more time we spend together in the water, the more you get – more experience, more confidence, more depth, and a longer breath-hold.
How much does a freediving course in Eilat cost (full price list)?
The Introduction course costs ₪750, Level 1 costs ₪1,700, the shortened Level 1 costs ₪1,450, Level 2 costs ₪1,800, and Level 3 costs ₪2,500. The price already includes everything – full equipment, DanEurope insurance, underwater photos, and an international Apnea International certification.
Do I need to know how to swim to learn freediving?
Yes, but not at a professional swimmer’s level. You need to feel comfortable in the water and be able to swim continuously and float without effort. If you feel good in the water – that’s enough to start. Everything else, from breathing to technique, we’ll learn together in the course.
From what age can you learn freediving?
Freediver certification can start from age 14 (under 18 requires parental consent). There are also freediving activities, like the Introduction course, suitable for younger ages, depending on the child and their comfort level in water.
What’s the difference between the Level 1 and Level 2 courses?
Level 1 is the beginner course – where you learn the fundamentals and dive to 20 meters, with no prior knowledge required. Level 2 is for those who have already completed Level 1 and want to go deeper, to 30 meters. In Level 2 you move into advanced techniques: advanced equalization, free-fall diving, and precise dive planning.
What’s included in the course, and what should I bring?
Asaf provides all the equipment – wetsuit, mask, fins, everything. Also included is DanEurope insurance, photos of your dives, and an Apnea International certification. All you need to bring is a swimsuit, a towel, and a desire to learn.
Why learn freediving specifically in Eilat?
Eilat is the most convenient place in Israel to learn freediving. The water is pleasant almost year-round, clear, and calm – and there’s deep water very close to shore, which saves a long swim out and lets you focus on the dive itself. A course in Eilat also lets you disconnect from routine for a few days and connect with the sea and yourself.
How deep will I get during the course?
The basic course targets a depth of 20 meters, but in practice this varies from person to person, and that’s completely fine – the goal isn’t the number but the feeling: diving calm, comfortable, and in control. The depth comes on its own.
Is freediving safe?
Yes – when done correctly. Safety is the foundation of everything we do in the course. Rule number one: never dive alone. Always with a buddy watching over you. In the course you’ll learn the safety rules, how to breathe before and after a dive, and how to identify and prevent risks.
